WebTen invasive aquatic plant species from eight families, for which the goal of this project was to design species-specific eDNA markers. Only some of the deleterious impacts of invasions are provided; an additional effect common to all ten species is a decrease in biological diversity. WebSince plant DNA was first detected in soil in 1998, eDNA from both plants and animals has been successfully isolated from samples collected in a variety of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Traditionally, researchers have analyzed these samples using probes designed to detect the presence of a specific species in a process called DNA barcoding.
