WebMar 21, 2024 · I bought a FL-500S (from Walmart) and found it did not fit my filter wrench (OEMtools 25400 A). The previous two filters fit ok, 30 flutes. The new filter dimensions check ok, the box and filter look good, no printing issues so I doubt it is counterfeit BUT it has 14 flutes instead of the expected 30! All the images online show 30 flutes. WebJun 21, 2012 · The lower bypass of the FL500S has everything to do with getting more oil to the motor on start up. Many of Ford's new models use this filter, and it looks like the FL820S is slowly being phased out. The mounting orientation or the material used for the ADBV should have nothing to do with the bypass valve setting.
